About Torchbearer Press
Torchbearer Press is an independent publishing imprint founded by author and illustrator Jesse Kuhn, based in St. Louis, Missouri.
The name carries the work: carrying light forward — preserving stories, passing wisdom between generations, and illuminating difficult or overlooked parts of the human experience.
The press publishes books that continue to matter after the final page: the Always Here companions for grief and bereavement — a series that has surpassed 10,000 copies sold — The Spirit of Santa for families navigating childhood and wonder, and forthcoming work in memoir and narrative nonfiction.
We are a small imprint, and we publish slowly. There is no large staff and no traditional acquisitions program to describe — the catalog is the author’s work, published with care, and it grows one book at a time.
What we publish
- Grief and bereavement — the Always Here series, written for one specific loss at a time.
- Children’s literature — The Spirit of Santa, and future work for families.
- Memoir and narrative nonfiction — forthcoming, including Burning Lindsay and When the Weather Shifts.
